Welcome to Year 2!
Welcome back to school! We hope you enjoyed your Christmas holidays.
Spring 1 2025
English
In English we will be writing our own stories and information texts about Dragons. We will be finding ways of making our sentences more exciting using adverbs, conjunctions and adjectives. We will be developing our Phonics skills in our daily Little Wandle sessions and learning spelling rules to help further improve our writing..

Maths
The children will be continuing to improve their mental maths skills, with a focus on multiplying and dividing and learning the 2, 5 and 10 times tables. Please practice these with your child at home. We will be giving the children their passwords for timestables rockstars to help with this. We will also be working with money to find totals and give change.
History
In History, we will be enquiring 'was the Titanic unsinkable?' We will be looking at historical sources and learning how they help us know about the past.
Science
We will be looking at keeping healthy, in particular how to keep ourselves clean, exercising and the importance of cleaning teeth.
D.T
This half term we will be designing our own emergency vehicles, looking at how we can attach moving wheels to them and evaluating the end product.
RE
They will learn about Abraham's significance in Judaism, Christianity, and Islam, comparing the commonalities and differences.
Music
The children will learn to experiment with, create, select and combine sounds with my voice and untuned instruments.
Computing
The children will learn that the information put or searched for online leaves a digital footprint and how to keep personal data safe online.
P.S.H.E
We will be using ‘My happy Mind’ to look at how our brains work. They will see how team HAP can help them to make the right choices. We will also be looking at the importance of friends and family in our lives.

P.E.
We will be continuing to develop our dance skills. In addition to this we will be having a games lesson, particularly focussing on movement, throwing and catching games
Please can children come to school in their correct PE uniform. PE days are not non-uniform days. No football shirts are allowed.

We have PE on Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays.

Plain T-Shirt the colour of your child’s House (red, blue, yellow, green) - No football shirts
Plain tracksuit bottoms (light grey, dark grey, black)
Plain hoodie / sweatshirt (light grey, dark grey, black)
Shorts (light grey, dark grey, black)
Suitable trainers
Please make sure that everything is labelled clearly with their names.
Children with long hair should have it tied up please.
Homework
Maths and comprehension homework will be given out on a Wednesday and are to be handed back in by the following Monday.

Uniform Reminder!
Please make sure that all of your child's uniform is clearly labelled, especially their jumper and their coat as they are the items of clothing most likely to get lost! Thank you.
